1.01: What security measures do you use against individuals that would misappropriate or steal my personal or financial information? (Back to Top)

We use 128 bit Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption for browsing and performing transactions at the BioWare Online Store. These standards encrypt or scramble the purchase information you send over the Internet, ensuring the security of your transaction. We use other private secure services and hardware to monitor and protect our secure databases where any information is stored.

1.02: How can I protect my identity while shopping online? (Back to Top)

1. Use a secure browser. Your browser should comply with industry security standards, such as Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). These standards encrypt or scramble the purchase information you send over the Internet, ensuring the security of your transaction.

2. Keep your password(s) private. Be creative when you establish a password, and never give it to anyone. Avoid using a telephone number, birth date, or a portion of your Social Security number. Instead, use a combination of numbers, letters, and symbols.

3. Pay by credit or charge card. If you pay by credit or charge card online, your transaction will be protected by the Fair Credit Billing Act.

1.03: How do I know if I have 128-bit encryption on my browser? (Back to Top)

Internet Explorer: In Internet Explorer click "Help" on the tool bar and then click on "About Internet Explorer". Locate the Cipher Strength. If it reads 128-bit, then your browser uses 128-bit encryption. If the Cipher Strength reads either 40-bit or 56-bit, you have the option of upgrading your browser to a cipher strength of 128-bit. For more information on upgrading Internet Explorer's Cipher strength : Internet Explorer High Encryption Pack

Netscape: Netscape versions 4.73 and higher automatically supports 128-bit encryption. You can test your Netscape cipher strength by visiting the Fortify website: Fortify For Netscape SSL Encryption Report If your cipher strength is insufficient you can download a free plug-in from Fortify to add 128-bit encryption to older versions of Netscape found here: Fortify for Netscape You can also download the latest version of Netscape communicator which includes 128-bit encryption from here: Download Lastest Version of Netscape

Mozilla: Click "Help" on the Mozilla Toolbar, next click "About Mozilla Firefox", at the bottom you will see something similar to this: "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040803 Firefox/0.9.3" If after your platform (Windows or Macintosh) you see a "U" then you are using the U.S. version (128-bit) If you have an "I" instead of a "U" then you have the international version (40-bit) and will need to upgrade. To get the latest version of Mozilla please visit: http://www.mozilla.org/

Opera: Opera version 3.0 or greater supports 128-bit encryption (SSL v2 and v3). If you are running a version of Opera that is older than 3.0 you will need to upgrade.

1.04: Does BioWare store my credit card information after I make a purchase? (Back to Top)

No, BioWare does not store credit card information which can be used to make a purchase after you have made your purchase. We do record your transaction information and an order number. The credit card information we collect is sent to our payment authorizer and they will store your information.
